When you go to a Party….

Going to someone’s home for a party or dinner can be a stressful time for a gluten free person.  When I was first Gluten Free there was very limited knowledge among others about it; at that time not many foods were GF. Now, 8 years later, I take my own food and crackers to a party. I call the hostess ahead and see what I have or can pick up that might fit with the menu. It is much more friendly to just bring a package of Gluten Free Nut Thins or Rice crackers than to have to go without, or worse, whine about not having anything to eat.  If you aren’t that familiar with the host or you are going to a reception or large gathering use a big enough purse that you can easily stash a baggies of crackers; then put them on your plate when you are surfing the buffet and pick out the cheese and veggies or fruit. having my own GF snacks is part of my go to dinner or party routine and when I do my Wine Tasting parties I even bring them so I have something to eat while the wine tasters are snacking.

Be in charge of your own food, it is easier on the others at the party and the hostess; she doesn’t have to worry about getting the right thing. You always have something to eat!
